Spots Disappearing

If you’ve been thinking about attending one or both of my workshops in NYC Nov. 17-18, you better register soon. Seats are filling fast. Tape and Doodle Stew on Nov. 17 has 3 seats left, and Jingle Journal on Nov. 18 has 6 seats left. I’m really looking forward to teaching these classes. Here again is the info:

Tape and Doodle Stew

Nov. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
$110

We'll learn how to make my easy-peasy and wildly popular Tapebound Journal, using scraps of papers we have on hand and all kinds of tapes. You'll be addicted to tape by the time we're done! Next, we'll fill those pages with a spicy and savory stew of doodling prompts that will definitely get your doodle juices flowing. You'll leave this workshop with a fun, smash-style book with pages you just can't wait to journal more on!

Supplies list: A flattened cereal box or other box equivalent of size, (no corrugated cardboard), large cardboard mailers work well, too!, your favorite tapes, such as pretty tapes, duct tape, and masking tape (black masking tape works really well and is what I use more than all others), your favorite bits and scraps of papers such as notebook paper, ledger paper, scrapbook papers, envelopes, really any papers you want to include in your journal, paper clips, stickers, rub-ons, your favorite pens and marking tools, a 22 X 30 in sheet of Fabriano Artistico hot press watercolor paper 140 lb. torn down to fit in your suitcase if you need (a suitable substitute is Canson or Arches), a set of Crayola washable markers (I use Pip Squeaks), a waterbrush such as Aquaflo. Also bring collage fodder you may want to add to your papers and a glue stick or Tombow Mono Adhesive, and a basic journaling kit of scissors, exacto knife, bone folder, ruler and a small cutting mat if you have one.

 Jingle Journal

 Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
$110 ($8 materials kit fee)

Have you ever wanted to craft a journal of your holiday season but afraid you just don't have the time? Does it get too crazy for you to all-out journal in December? Or have you just desired to journal your holidays but don't know where to start without losing your mind?
This journal is the answer! We'll take an ordinary hardcover book and turn it into a sparkly and glorious holiday journal you can carry with you and journal in at any time. I'll share my secrets to amping up your journal to make it fun and festive. We'll deck the halls of our pages to prep them for the season and you'll receive a ton of prompts to carry you throughout the holiday. Think of it as a smash-style journal on holiday steroids!

Supplies list: a hardcover book about 6" X 8" (I get mine from the dollar store), your favorite bits and scraps of papers such as notebook paper, ledger paper, scrapbook papers, envelopes, really any papers you want to include in your journal (think holiday—anything with a holiday flair works such as saved Christmas cards, packaging, wrapping paper, paper bags), photos of Christmases past (I copy B&W photos on the color copiers at my local store), your favorite paints (I work with cheap craft acrylics; try to keep your selection to a palette you want your journal to be), Stickles, favorite pens, markers and pencils (glitter pens are GREAT), gel medium, some watercolor paper (I like to use Fabriano Artistico hot press 140 lb.), waxed linen thread to bind your journal, binders needle, glitter, favorite beads and buttons, basic journaling kit of scissors, glue stick or Tombow Mono Adhesive, exacto knife, small cutting mat, bone folder, and ruler.

Sign-ups are being taken at the Little Bird Creations Meetup Group...You must sign up to become a member of the group before you register.

Don’t delay! Seats are LIMITED!!!! This is the only time I will be teaching the full holiday journal this year! It’s not going to be online, just in NYC! I will be teaching {12.31} online, but that will just be everyday prompts and tips. I won’t be showing you how to construct the holiday journal!
These workshops will be held in a studio on the Upper West Side...
