I am an author, book designer, lettering illustrator, and an avid doodler and art journaler. After seven years of art directing magazines including America West Airlines Magazine, I decided to design books from my home studio. I design coffee table books, gift books, cookbooks, and kids books, and my design work has been included in Print’s Regional Design Annual 2002 and also has been recognized by the Copper Quill Awards, the Association of Partners for Public Lands, January Magazine, and Round & Coffin Club’s 2005 Western Books Exhibition, among others. In 2008, Quarry published my first book, 1000 Artist Journal Pages: Personal Pages and Inspiration, which I also designed. My second and third books, Doodle Diary: Art Journaling for Girls and Doodle Sketchbook: Art Journaling for Boys, both of which I wrote, illustrated, and designed, were published by Gibbs Smith Publisher in 2010 and 2011, respectively. My latest book is Art Doodle Love: A Journal of Self-Discovery (Abrams/STC Craft, 2013). All are available on Amazon and in bookstores everywhere.
I also teach art journaling and doodling workshops at retreats and online. I’ve taught at Interweave’s Create Retreat 2010, and the Create Retreat (CA) 2011. My DVD workshop “Art Journaling: Pages in Stages”, is available from Cloth Paper Scissors and Interweave Press. My articles about art journaling and doodling have appeared in Cloth Paper Scissors and Somerset Art Journaling, and I’ve written numerous guest blog posts about the same subjects for Creative Imaginations Luminarte, F&W’s CreateMixedMedia.com, and others.
If you want to submit journal pages for my next book, tentatively titled A World of Artist Journal Pages, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Also, for more info, check the guidelines here.
